Looking Forward to a New Year and Growth for Our Coalition

Big news for the ongoing growth of the World Farmers Markets Coalition! On Thursday the 16th of December we had our general meeting where more than 9 nations were represented. At the end of the meeting, the provisional President was appointed. He will drive the Coalition to the first general assembly, the adoption of the statute and the election of the parties. Richard McCarthy will serve in this important role and lead this transition. The virtual assembly saw the participation of many associations from around the world, all with one goal: to promote direct sales, farmers’ markets, environmental protection and biodiversity. With the typical lightness and the ability to realize the dreams of the rural world, we are preparing to start a year full of events that will help us grow in quality and impact. The Coalition will increasingly be a subject with which institutions will be able to talk to find solutions and opportunities for agriculture around the world. We will also do research thanks to the essential support of  FAO. We will coordinate training opportunities in order to improve methods and share ideas. In the meantime, we will keep communicating about the activities of the Coalition and our plans for the future. So stay tuned and keep shopping at your local farmers market!
