The deadline to apply for the WorldFMC Awards 2026 is fast approaching, and there is still time to submit your nominations and be part of a global celebration of excellence in farmers markets.
Farmers markets play a vital role in building sustainable food systems, supporting local economies, protecting biodiversity, and strengthening communities. Behind every successful market are passionate farmers, dedicated market managers, supportive institutions, and cities that believe in the value of local food systems. The WorldFMC Awards were created to recognize these efforts and highlight inspiring examples from around the world.
Following the success of the first edition, the World Farmers Markets Coalition is proud to continue this initiative with the Second Edition of the WorldFMC Awards. The awards aim to celebrate individuals and cities that are making a meaningful contribution to the growth, innovation, and resilience of farmers markets globally.
Applications are open in three categories:
Best Market Manager
Recognizing leadership, innovation, community engagement, and initiatives that improve accessibility and strengthen farmers markets.
Best Farmer
Honoring farmers committed to biodiversity, sustainable and agroecological practices, innovation, and active participation in farmers markets.
Best City
Celebrating cities that support farmers markets through public policies, urban planning, and initiatives that reinforce their social, cultural, and economic role.
The awards are open exclusively to WorldFMC members, and nominations can be submitted by member associations and organizations. Multiple applications and self-nominations are welcome.
Winning a WorldFMC Award is an opportunity to gain international recognition, share inspiring practices, and contribute to strengthening the global farmers market movement. It is also a chance to showcase the incredible work being done every day to support local producers and communities.
Applications will close on 31 May 2026, and late submissions will not be considered.
