EcoLocal Farmers Market Moldova launches its 8th season.
On Saturday, March 1, 2025, small organic and artisan producers from Moldova returned from their two-month winter break and gathered at the EcoLocal Farmers Market to launch a new market season.
EcoLocal Market – A unique space in Chișinău city
EcoLocal Farmers Market Moldova was launched on June 30, 2018, by the Association of Consumers and Organic and Artisan Producers in Moldova, in partnership with CTI Capital, the main partner hosting the market in the parking lot of the Kentford Business Center on Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard, 202 in the capital city of Chisinau. Since its opening, EcoLocal Farmers Market has become a space for direct interaction between consumers and local producers, and is the only market of its kind in Chișinău.
A place that celebrates local tradition
The start of the new season coincided with the beginning of spring, and everyone at the market welcomed the new agricultural year by pinning a Mărțişor to their chests – small traditional items made of two twisted threads, white and red. The Mărțişor, which has been part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage since 2017, comes from a popular tradition deeply connected to agriculture, symbolizing the rebirth of Nature and fertility.
An engaged and active community
The community built around EcoLocal Farmers Market is not just about food, but also about shared values and a lifestyle.
To enhance its impact, EcoLocal launches monthly awareness campaigns focused on social and environmental issues. The campaign for March is dedicated to water conservation, entitled “Rivers and Springs, Flowing Waters.” As part of this campaign, representatives from the Recycline Moldova recycling studio were invited to the market on March 1. They shared valuable information about sorting and recycling plastics, led a collection drive for plastic types 2 and 5, and showcased and sold jewelry and decorative items made from recycled plastic.
EcoLocal Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the parking lot of the Kentford Business Center, located at 202 Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard. Entry is free for all visitors.
