Two days featuring farmers from around the world. Scheduled speeches by Ministers Tajani and Lollobrigida and Mayor Gualtieri. The largest exhibition of food and wine products from around the world threatened by climate change will be the focus of the Assembly of the World Farmers Markets Coalition, the association that brings together farmers’ markets worldwide, with farmers from five continents bringing their specialties to be preserved.
The event starts at 9:30 AM on Friday, July 12, at the Campagna Amica farmer’s market at the Circo Massimo in Rome, Via di San Teodoro 74. A unique opportunity to learn directly from the producers about foods saved from extinction in both developed and developing countries thanks to the development of local direct sales markets, defending the economy, jobs, the environment, and the biodiversity of the Earth.
Along with Coldiretti President Ettore Prandini, Secretary General Vincenzo Gesmundo, Richard McCarthy, President of the World Farmers Markets Coalition, and Carmelo Troccoli, Director of the World Farmers Markets Coalition and the Campagna Amica Foundation, there will be, among others, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, World Food Prize laureate Heidi Kuhn, and Jeffrey Prescott, U.S. representative to the UN Agencies for Food and Agriculture.
On this occasion, the report on farmers’ markets in Italy and around the world will be released, highlighting their central role in combating food poverty, as well as in developing local economies, employment, and protecting biodiversity.
