Over the last year, we’ve seen exciting growth in our coalition, with many new members joining us and embracing our shared mission. As a global coalition, our primary goal is to amplify the voices of farmers market practitioners from all corners of the world. Expanding our community is therefore crucial to strengthening our collective impact and ensuring we represent diverse perspectives.
During our General Assembly in Rome, we had the privilege of meeting some of the new members and learn directly from their experiences:
- Josephine and Andre from the Malta Food Agency shared insights into their unique experience managing a government-run farmers market.
- Amos from Sustainable Agriculture Programme for Liberia (SAP-LIBERIA), who is actively working to establish a regional association of farmers markets in Grand Gedeh County, an inspiring initiative that aims to empower local farmers.
- We also connected with Eliud from Kenya National Farmers Federation (KENAFF), who is currently collaborating with our member Dennis from Regional Coalition For Farmers Market (RECOF) to launch Farmers Market Nairobi through the MAMI Project.
- Jean-Nick from Québec brought valuable perspectives to the table, marking another milestone for our coalition in Canada – a region where we have built strong and long-lasting relationships with farmers markets associations since day one.
- Finally, we had the pleasure of meeting Boulos from Lebanon, who operates itinerant farmers markets across the country, bringing fresh opportunities to local communities around Lebanon.
These connections strengthen our network and reaffirm the importance of our mission. Together, we continue to build bridges, share knowledge, and amplify the incredible work being done worldwide.
We are now looking forward to learning more from our new member from Mexico City, who runs the beautiful organic market “Mercado el 100” every Sunday in the neighbourhood of Roma Sur.
Do you know of a farmers market community that isn’t part of our coalition yet? Or perhaps someone interested in starting new markets?
We’d love to connect! Feel free to share our contact information with them—we’re eager to hear from everyone and keep growing our network.
