We have our first post-summer Studio tomorrow!
On Wednesday, 25 September, at the usual 1 pm CEDT and 6 pm CEDT, we will host the WorldFMC Monthly Studio on the topic of “Preserving Direct-Selling at Farmers Markets.” One key authentic feature of farmers markets is that they create the shortest food supply chain by having farmers and producers sell directly to consumers. Much easier said than done, it can be very challenging to make this happen, depending on which world regions, countries, or locations within certain places, for an array of reasons. Yet, we know so many wonderful farmers markets that make this happen! We will hear from our expert members from Brazil, Sri Lanka, Denmark, Jamaica, and Peru, in various sectors and partnerships, how they do it, and what challenges they have to overcome. We hope that you can come to actively participate in the Studio!
The upcoming Studio schedule for the rest of 2024 is as follows:
23 October: Overworked? Farmers Market Management Sustainability & Burnout 20 November: Managing Off-Seasons
In the last newsletter, we reported to you about all of the external collaboration efforts that we are making through the Academy. Another new one that we want to share with you – are you attending the Slow Food International Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2024? Please come find us –
WorldFMC Studio Live!– at Parco Dora, Turin!
To create the space to host and facilitate the community of practice with our members, the WorldFMC Academy has been hard at work. As you know, we have been producing monthly Studios for about a year and a half by now – we are working on creating a YouTube playlist of all of our past Studio recordings for your easy access. We have a series of Mini-Course recordings on our Academy platform. We have formed Regional Affinity Group as the first “identity-based” Co-Lab, and we started our first “topic-based” Co-Labs. We have started collecting your best-practice resources to create our own members-only Library.
In the upcoming months, the WorldFMC Academy will not only continue with our monthly Studios that are open to the world but also do the following:
1. Continuing from the live social media workshop, we will start designing and bringing various members-only, virtual workshop series to you. Social media training will be the first one, and there will be others!
2. Sibling Markets (formerly known as Sister Markets) will be formed based on your speed-dating feedback (submit your forms to us!), and we will facilitate Siblings engagement!
3. We will start to share with you the progress, success, and lessons learned from our global collaborative work with other.
4. We will continue fostering the existing Co-Labs, and share with all of you how they are going!
5. We will record and upload new Mini-Course series onto our platform.
